Basic Household Manners is a 5-week course that is part of our SIRIUS Essential Skill Series

This class is about impulse control and basic manners. It’s fabulous for wayward teenagers and new dogs over 5 months of age. Additional skills taught include; watch me, no jumping (teach your dog not to jump up on people), stay from a sit or down, stand still, go to bed, leave it (how to ignore food and other distractions), Take it (how to take things such as food and toys, gently). This class is 5 sessions total, and each session meets approximately 50 minutes each week.

Registration Fee: $200 for 5 sessions

Please note: All three courses in the SIRIUS Essential Skill Series include: Basic Household Manners, Leash Manners, and Come when Called.  Interested in all 3 classes? If you enroll in all three classes (Basic Household Manners, Leash Manners & Come When Called), you are eligible for a $60 savings. Call our Sirius office at (800) 419-8748 for more details.

Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP are required. We strongly prefer proof of vaccines on paper (with vaccine date mentioned) versus the rabies tag on collar. Please note: Our Oakland West location also requires proof of Bordetella vaccination.

Have your dog wear a flat, buckle/snap collar – no harnesses or training collars that tighten. Please have your pooch on a 6’ leash. “Flexi” leashes are not appropriate for class.

Don’t feed your dog right before class. Instead, bring their kibble to class in a ziploc bag for use as lures and rewards while training. Also bring a few extra-tasty treats to reward your pup for their best performances. Make sure your treats are in small, bite-sized pieces that won’t fill your pup up or take long for them to eat.

We require at least one adult per enrolled puppy. We encourage the whole family attend the class together but if children are three years or younger, a second adult must be present.

Temperment: Dogs must be friendly and non-reactive with other dogs and people.

Age: 19 weeks or older

Vaccine: Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP.
