Dog Training II

Our goal is to enable owners to enjoy their adolescent dog's over-the-top joy for life by re-channeling the dog's exuberance (hyperactivity, jumping-up, barking and pulling on-leash) into equally enthusiastic obedience. Emphasis is based on super-prompt sits and downs, reliable rock-solid stays, and controlled on-leash walking and heeling. This class is designed for dogs who have completed our Sirius Dog Training I or Basic Household Manners course.

What to Bring to Class:

Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP are required. We strongly prefer proof of vaccines on paper (with vaccine date mentioned) versus the rabies tag on collar. Please note: Our Oakland West location also requires proof of Bordetella vaccination.

Have your dog wear a flat, buckle/snap collar – no harnesses or training collars that tighten. Please have your pooch on a 6’ leash. “Flexi” leashes are not appropriate for class.

Don’t feed your dog right before class. Instead, bring their kibble to class in a ziploc bag for use as lures and rewards while training. Also bring a few extra-tasty treats to reward your pup for their best performances. Make sure your treats are in small, bite-sized pieces that won’t fill your pup up or take long for them to eat.

We require at least one adult per enrolled puppy. We encourage the whole family attend the class together but if children are three years or younger, a second adult must be present.

Class Requirements:

Pre-requisite: Must have completed Dog Training I or Basic Household Manners

Vaccine: Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP are required.

This class is five consecutive sessions unless a break is mentioned. Each session is approximately 50 minutes per week. Each session will meet on the same day and time each week.
