Early puppy training is as easy as it is enjoyable. Much more challenging though, is to ensure that your puppy maintains bite inhibition, remains socialized and friendly to other dogs and people, and continues to pay heed to your instructions while working through adolescence. Training focuses on proofing verbal control without the need for food lures or rewards, or any other training tools. Exercises include distance sits in play (for the home, yard, dog parks and off-leash walks), settle down, rock-solid stays, and both off-leash and on-leash walking and heeling. Puppy 2 will help you teach your adolescent pup to be calm, attentive and responsive and to respond quickly, willingly and happily, especially when distracted, off-leash, and at a distance.

Class fee

Registration Fee: $200 for 5 Weeks When purchased as part of The Complete Puppy Training Course there is a $50 savings if your dog is enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Training I, or a $30 for puppies only enrolled in a Puppy Training I.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

For our Puppy II classes, proof of rabies (or up-to-date vaccinations) is required at the first class. We strongly prefer documentation on paper as opposed to a rabies tags. This is a legal requirement and your dog will not be allowed to participate until proof has been furnished.

Have your dog wear a flat, buckle/snap collar – no harnesses or training collars that tighten. Please have your pooch on a 6’ leash. “Flexi” leashes are not appropriate for class.

Don’t feed your puppy right before class. Instead, bring their kibble to class in a ziploc bag for use as lures and rewards while training. Also bring a few extra-tasty treats to reward your pup for their best performances. Make sure your treats are in small, bite-sized pieces that won’t fill your pup up or take long for them to eat.

Requirements

Requirements:

Pre-requisite: Puppies must have graduated from the Sirius Puppy I class. Puppy II must be taken within at least 4 months of completing your Puppy I class.

Age: Maximum age is 8-9 months old.

Vaccine: Proof of rabies vaccine or up-to-date vaccination is required. Please note: Our Oakland West location has an additional vaccine requirement for Bordetella. We strongly recommend this additional vaccine if your class is held in any canine facility, but is only required in Oakland West.
