Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies between 8-12 weeks (56-84 days) old on the first day of class.

$249 for 5 weekly 50 minute sessions. For the best value and education, sign up for a Puppy Training Bundle.

Puppy Kindergarten is all about making sure that you and your pup begin their socialization and education as soon as possible. The sooner you start, the easier and more effective training will be.

When you sign up for Puppy Kindergarten, you get instant access to a comprehensive collection of on-demand online puppy training videos, plus an expert trainer to answer your questions about housetraining, puppy biting, chewing, or separation anxiety, so you can begin training at home right away.

In class, you’ll learn how to socialize your pup, so they develop a confident and friendly temperament. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART of raising a puppy, but it is easy to neglect because most puppies already seem friendly and confident. However, without sufficient proactive socialization with unfamiliar people and dogs, many pups become increasingly wary and fearful of unfamiliar people and unfamiliar dogs as they grow older.

Also, you'll begin learning how to use Lure Reward Training to start teaching your pup to perform useful behaviors on cue, such as Come, Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Off (leave it), Take It, and Thank you (release) by using food lures and food rewards.

At this young age, the most important aspect of Puppy Kindergarten is having a good time together and building confidence (for your pup and you!). You'll learn how to communicate with your pup, reinforce the behaviors you like, and redirect the behaviors you don’t, all under the supervision of an experienced puppy trainer who can answer your questions, troubleshoot your training techniques and alert you to any problems or issues.

Of course, Puppy Kindergarten is just the beginning. When your pup is 12-18 weeks, you’ll want to continue with Puppy Training I — where the fun continues as your pup learns to play nicely with other pups, to listen to your instructions and do what you ask, even without the continued need for food lures or food rewards.

Requirements:

Age: 8-12 weeks (56-84 days) old on the first day of class.

Vaccination: As per the Guidelines of the AVSAB (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior), we require a minimum of one set of vaccines (including Distemper and Parvo) at least 7 days prior to the first class, and a first deworming. Puppies are also required to remain up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class. Please bring proof of vaccination to your first class. We reserve the right to check vaccination records and puppies who do not have the proper documentation may not be allowed to participate.

To minimize the risk of infection for your puppy and the other puppies in class, we ask that you try to keep your pup off the ground in public areas and avoid letting your pup meet unknown or unvaccinated puppies or dogs, until one week after your pup's second set of vaccines.

Handlers: We require at least one adult per enrolled puppy. We encourage the whole family to attend the class together but if children are three years or younger, a second adult must be present.

Puppy I is for puppies between 12-18 weeks (85-126 days) old on the first day of class.

$249 for 5 weekly 50-minute sessions. For the best value and education, sign up for a Puppy Training Bundle and save up to $100.

Puppy Training I is all about laying the foundation of basic training and socialization so that your pup grows into a happy, friendly, well-behaved dog.

In Puppy I your pup will get ample opportunities to play off-leash with other pups so that your pup can learn how to play nicely and safely with other dogs. Off-leash play is an essential part of a puppy's development and your SIRIUS instructor will help your pup get the feedback and experience they need to get along well with other dogs.

Your pup will also get the chance to meet new and unfamiliar people, which is even more important than socialization with other puppies. Your pup needs to meet over 100 people in the coming weeks and your SIRIUS class is a wonderful place to start.

In Puppy I you’ll also learn how to use a food lure to get your dog to perform specific behaviors, such as Come, Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Follow, Off (aka Leave It), Take it, Thank You (aka Release). We’ll show you how to integrate training into play to make it fun, as well as how to start phasing out food lures so your pup will eventually follow your instructions even when you don’t have food in your hand.

At this age, your pup is capable of learning a lot, and the more you practice at home, the more they will learn. That’s why all Puppy I students get instant access to a comprehensive collection of online puppy training videos, as well as access to a puppy expert who can answer your questions outside of class.

Once you’ve completed Puppy I it’s essential that you continue with training and socialization throughout adolescence. Puppy Training II makes it easy to keep your pup socialized and attentive, even as you confront the many challenges of adolescence!

Requirements:

Age: On the start date of class, pups must be between 12-18 weeks (85-126 days) old.

To maximize your pup's protection we STRONGLY ADVISE that your puppy has TWO sets of vaccinations given at least 2 weeks apart — with both vaccines administered after 8 weeks of age and the second vaccination given at least 7 days prior to the start-date of class, i.e., vaccines at 9 and 11, or 8 and 10 weeks to start class at 12 weeks of age.

Puppy Training II is for puppies that have completed Puppy Training I and are under 8 months (35 weeks) of age on the first day of class.

$249 for 5 weekly 50-minute sessions.

Puppy Training II is all about maintaining socialization and taking your pup's training to the next level with improved reliability and off-leash control, including verbal instructions and a reduced reliance on food.

Puppy II is a wonderful place to keep up your pup’s socialization so they don’t develop adolescent-onset fear or reactivity problems while you also continue advancing your pup's training skills.

In Puppy II we can show you how to phase out the need for food treats and motivate your pup so they want to listen to your instructions in any situation, even when they’re at a distance or distracted. We can also show you how to use tricks and games to make training fun and how to go from food lures, to hand signals, to verbal instructions, and how to deal with your pup when they’re not following your instructions, without getting frustrated.

Teaching your pup to respond reliably to verbal instructions, even when they are off-leash, distracted, and at a distance takes a lot of practice, which is why all SIRIUS Puppy II students get access to our enormous collection of on-demand training videos and at-home training support, making it easy for you to practice at home between classes.

Puppy Training II can be repeated if you’d like to continue leveling up your pup’s training, or if you just want to maintain their training and socialization as your pup starts confronting the challenges of adolescence.
