Adolescent & Adult Manners (previously called Basic Household Manners) is a 5-week course. This class is held on-leash for all 5 sessions.

This class is about impulse control and basic manners. It’s fabulous for wayward teenagers and new dogs over 5 months of age. Additional skills taught include; watch me, no jumping (teach your dog not to jump up on people), stay from a sit or down, stand still, go to bed, leave it (how to ignore food and other distractions), Take it (how to take things such as food and toys, gently). This class is 5 sessions total, and each session meets approximately 50 minutes each week.

Registration Fee: $250 for 5 sessions

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP are required. We strongly prefer proof of vaccines on paper (with vaccine date mentioned) versus the rabies tag on collar.

Have your dog wear a flat, buckle/snap collar, with a 6' leash. “Flexi” retractable leashes are not appropriate for class. No noose or collars that tighten please. Harnesses are allowed in classes for walking exercises, but please also bring a flat collar.

Don’t feed your dog right before class. Instead, bring their kibble to class in a ziploc bag for use as lures and rewards while training. Also bring a few extra-tasty treats to reward your pup for their best performances. Make sure your treats are in small, bite-sized pieces that won’t fill your pup up or take long for them to eat.

We require at least one adult per enrolled puppy. We encourage the whole family attend the class together but if children are three years or younger, a second adult must be present.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

TemperamentDogs must be comfortable being around other dogs and people. Excited and playful is normal behavior; lunging and aggression towards others is better worked on with a private training session before enrolling in a group class. Excessive barking that cannot be curbed by the instructor may result in dismissal from class with a refund and referral for private training. If you have questions as to whether your dog would be benefit from this class, we'd be happy to discuss.

Age: 19 weeks or older

If your puppy is younger than 19 weeks old, please start with Puppy Training I.

Vaccine: Proof of rabies vaccine and up-to-date DHLPP/DHPP.

Please note: This class is held on-leash for all 5 sessions.
